The communities we serve

American Red Cross Mission Statement

"The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. It does this through services that are consistent with its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement. These are Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality."

Vision Statement

The Values of  the American Red Cross

Five primary values inspire the volunteer and paid staff
of the American Red Cross in their mission to serve others.

  • HUMANITARIANISM We are committed to people and their well-being and dedicated to caring for those who suffer.
  • IMPARTIALITY:   We provide our services equitably and impartially to those in need, regardless of their citizenship, race, religion, age, gender, or political affiliation.
  • SERVICE EXCELLENCE:  As caretakers of the human and financial resources contributed by the American people, we strive toward the highest quality of service and management.
  • VOLUNTEERISM:  We are a community based, voluntary organization; governed, supported, and principally staffed by volunteers who work with paid staff in all programs and services.
  • INTERNATIONALISM:  Recognizing that human suffering knows no boundaries, the Red Cross movement is world wide. We are a chapter of the National Society which is in turn a member of the League of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
